Support for Parents of Neurodivergent Children.

You Don’t Have To Do This Alone

Parenting neurodivergent children can be challenging, but support can make a meaningful difference.

If you would like to explore counselling or learn more about how I can support your family, please feel free to get in touch.

Support for Parents of Neurodivergent Children

Parenting a neurodivergent child can be deeply rewarding, but it can also be overwhelming, exhausting, and emotionally complex.

Many parents I work with describe feeling constantly “on edge,” managing meltdowns, navigating school challenges, coordinating multiple appointments, and trying to support their child while also holding their family together.

Over time this can lead to burnout, relationship strain, and a sense of isolation.

You may feel like everyone is focusing on supporting your child, but no one is supporting you.

You are not alone.

A Neurodiversity-Affirming Approach

My work is informed by neurodiversity-affirming practice, which recognises neurodivergence as a natural variation in how people experience and interact with the world.

This approach focuses on understanding differences, supporting wellbeing, and creating environments where children and families can flourish.

I also draw on trauma-informed and family systems approaches to support parents navigating complex challenges.

Counselling for Parents and Families

I provide counselling for parents and couples raising neurodivergent children, including those with autism, ADHD, sensory differences, or other developmental needs.

My work focuses on supporting the wellbeing of the whole family.

Sessions may explore:

• parent burnout and emotional exhaustion
• coping with meltdowns and challenging behaviours
• managing stress and overwhelm
• strengthening your relationship as a couple
• navigating school challenges and advocacy
• rebuilding connection within the family

This is a space where you can talk openly about the realities of parenting without judgement.

Supporting the Whole Family System

When a child is neurodivergent, the whole family system is affected.

Parents often carry enormous emotional and practical responsibilities, and siblings and relationships can also be impacted.

With a background in couples and family therapy, I support families to:

• improve communication
• reduce conflict and stress
• rebuild connection
• develop sustainable ways of supporting their child

The goal is not to “fix” your child, but to support your family to thrive.
